squierllbait asked: Oh my gosh, your fluttershy makeup tutorial was so helpful! Plus all your makeup tutorials are so beautiful!
Awe, thank you!! :D
Share pictures if/when you do it, I would LOVE to see!
Practicing looks for Utah Pride this weekend. This is elfCosmetics on sketchbook paper. No primer, lol
From left to right:
Black and Purple for Friday night at The Metro bar to see DJ Nina Flowers!!!!
Rainbow lids with purple brows for the Parade Sunday Morning.
Yellow lid and blue brows for Opening Prayer Saturday afternoon.
Wash your makeup brushes WEEKLY at minimum. Especially your foundation brushes and sponges. They are bacteria paradise, and the reason dry makeup has an expiration date.
Use hair ties and rubber bands to hang them upside down. Doing this keeps them from touching any germy surface while they dry, and it keeps the water from settling around the glue and weakening it.
Picked up an “elf: Cream Liner” today in ‘Punk Purple’.
It’s a gorgeous purple color, and as the name states, it sure is creamy.
It needs to be layered to achieve a decent color pay off, and it smudges easily until it sets up. But once it sets up, it didn’t budge, even with a baby wipe.
And it comes in more colors than purple. From what I saw at the store, they had a blue, brown, and, of course, a black.
It would work well as a primer, but as for a liner, I would only use it for a look like this, with 0 to very little eye eyeshadow.
I’d say over all, it’s worth the $3.
I miss my red hair desperately. Some days I just look at myself in the mirror and think about dying it again, but I don’t have the bleach to do it. :/ So I look back on “older” photos of myself and relive those wonderful memories. *sigh~*
I loved how Red hair made my green eyes stand out, especially if I filled my brows to match it.
(very little makeup.
light foundation, white liner, mascara, and brows)
(I’m so srs in this one….. Ugh, summer dried lips. No amount of water or lip balm would save them…)
Having crazy hair and brows in my “very little makeup” looks, gave me the courage to REALLY push the boundaries with color combination.
And yes, I really left the house with this makeup.
Rule 1 to learning makeup, is: You can’t let yourself be bothered by other people’s opinions. If you let someone’s judgments affect how you act, you aren’t being true to yourself, and limiting your artistic and expressive potential.
I got a couple of sideways looks, but no one said anything about such bold makeup, asside from. “What shade of blue i that and where can I get it?” And before any of you ask, it’s been discontinued. Sadly. :(
More SRS expression. GRRR X)
The only thing I don’t like about this look, is how blue washes out my eye color. Next time I should do it with a purple.
If you have brown eyes, this look would make them explode, but I digress.
ANYWHOO, I have to get back to hunting down some of my older makeup work.
CIAO all you beautiful people!
Yep Yep Yep. Have to pull an older tutorial out of the bag. Hopefully I can get to making a brand new one for all you lovelies in time for my 100th subscriber celebration.
Remember the infamous words of Bob Ross, “We don’t make mistakes, we have happy accidents.”
Here it is for you, my “Accidentally” Green and Purple tutorial.
TOOLS and PRODUCTS
-Small smudger Brush
-Black Cream Liner (or kohl pencil)
-Purple eyeshadow (I “used” Grape pigment by Mac Cosmetics)
Use eyeshadow primer all over the lid and up to the bow, be sure to smudge some under your lower lashes. Then using a Q-Tip, your finger, or a brush, apply a cream liner (or a black kohl pencil will do in a pinch) above your upper lashes and blend it up towards your crease. This step by no means has to be perfectly blended and pretty. Let it set for a few minutes before applying eyeshadow over it.
Using a flat brush (I used a “concealer brush”) pack on your lid color. PACK not SWEEP for maximum color pay out, and minimal fall out. Apply it all over your lid, and a bit above your crease line. You can do this in a winged shape, or a round shape, as I have done. Add some under your lower lashes, keeping to the outer half.
Using a soft crease brush, apply your crease color in your crease over the darker lid color and about half way up to your brow, building onto the shape you started in the previous step. Be sure to add some under your lower lashes in the inner corner, blending it down into the darker color.
Wipe off your crease brush, or pick up a clean blending brush, and begin to buff out the harsh line up towards your brow in soft circular motions. If you feel that you have moved too much color up, use a clean brush to swipe away some of the color.
Using a color that is close to your skin tone, on a clean fluffy brush, pack and buff it under your brown, blending it down into the crease color, building your gradient. Don’t be shy to go between the crease color and your highlight color until you feel the gradient looks good.
Using a make up wipe, or a cotton pad with make up remover on it, wipe away any fall out you might have, and shape the bottom of your eye shadow if you got a little crazy/messy with it.
Do your foundation routine. Once that’s done, you are SUPPOSED to use a CLEAN smudger brush to soften the harsh line created under your eyes, but I didn’t do that. I didn’t make sure my smudger brush was clean and ended up smudging a Mac Pigment (Grape) at the outer corner of my lower lashes… I liked the color combination so I kept it.
Fill your brows. Use a black kohl pencil to fill your water line, and tight line as well. feel free to line above your lashes if you want, but I didn’t see the point in doing it with such a dark look. Apply your mascara as well.
As usual, I used no blush and a tinted gloss to finish the look.
Is there a color you’d like to see next? Let me know~!!
You’ve all super awesome!
Me when I have to socialise:
Soooooo So so so, Children, lets talk about life, and how shit likes to come full circle.
As we all know, the 20th century was cram packed with wars. The Great War, World War 2, the Korean War, Vietnam, The Cold War, just to name a few. There were probably a good 10-15 years where the United States was not waring with someone at some point. And due to that fact, so many of our grandparents and parents are Ex-Military. One of my grandfathers was in the Army and fought in WW2 and Korea, my other Grandfather is a retired Marine, and my father is a retired Marine. The military is in my blood, its part of my history, and I figured it was going to be part of my future in one form or another.
So… About a year ago, I realized that I had developed feelings for a very close friend of mine, A Navy Brat. And so around Christmas 2012, I confessed my feels to them, they confessed their’s back, and we’ve been an item ever sense.
One month ago, yesterday, they shipped off to Boot Camp, to become a Navy Sailor…. Just. My. Luck. I fall head over heals for Military personnel. That begs the question, Nature or Nurture. Either way, it can’t be helped.
I clung so tight to my mail box, day after day, watching for a letter. Hoping for a letter…. PRAYING for a letter…. 4 weeks passed, and I was resigning myself to the idea that they had some how misplaced my address and couldn’t write to me, when BAM! THERE IT WAS! The most beautiful sight in the world!
LETTER LETTER LETTER LETTER!!!
It was short and sweet, and everything I hoped it would be! It even had a return address, and in the past week, I sent 3 of my own to her. AHH~! I’ve already read it a BAZILLION times. It made me smile, it made me cry…. It made me happy.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder…. And it’s true.
I cannot wait to see her round Christmas or new year or when she gets a chance during A-school. It’s going to be our 1-year Anniversary and I’m just as much in love with her as the day we confessed our feels.
SO, in honor of my Sailor, I am doing a Navy Pride look.
I photographed this over a month ago, before she left, and I apparently, did not take a picture of the products I used, so I just grabbed some from the interwebs. Please bare with me. :)
And lets get into it!
TOOLS and PRODUCTS:
-Black Cream liner AND Black Kohl Pencil (Liquid Liner is optional for later steps)
-DARK SACRIFICE by Shiro Cosmetics (Dark Blue Shimmery Shadow)
-KISS IN CASABLANCA by NYX Cosmetics (Medium Blue Shimmery or Pearly eyeshadow)
-OLD GOLD by Mac Cosmetics (Gold Pigment or Loose Shadow)
-And a color close to your skin tone. For me that’s BLANC TYPE by Mac Cosmetics
-3 Flat Brushes
-2 or 3 Blending Brushes
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, lets go.
STEP 1: Prime
Apply a Neutral primer all over your lid, up to your brow, and a little under your lower lashes. Then, smudge some black cream liner, or kohl pencil, over the inner 1/4 and outer 1/3 of your lid.
(don’t forget to let it set for a few minutes, then re-blend slightly if it creases.)
STEP 2: Dark Blue
Using a flat brush, pack the dark blue over the areas you applied the black “primer”. Be sure to apply some on the outer 1/3 of your lower lashes.
STEP 3: Medium Blue
Wipe off the brush, or grab a new one, and pack the medium blue in an arch shape, keeping the middle of your lid clear. Apply some to the middle 1/3 of your lower lash line.
STEP 4: Blend 1
Using a CLEAN blending brush, blend the harsh line out. Don’t be scared to pull it above your crease.
(If you feel you lost too much of either blue, don’t be scared to apply more, and blend again.)
STEP 5: Gold~!
Using another clean flat brush, mix some of your gold pigment with a Mixing Medium (water works just as well) and pack it over the blank area of your lid and let dry. AS WELL as on the inner 1/3 of your lower lash line.
(I ended up using some of the medium blue to blend out the harsh edge in the gold.)
STEP 6 and 7 and 8 (because I suck, I’m sorry):
Using a Clean blending brush, apply an eyeshadow close to your skin tone (that has a matte finish) below your brow, and blend down. Again, if you feel that you lost too much of your blue, add more and re blend.
Then, using a cream, or liquid BLACK liner, liner your eye. Fill your water line and TIGHT line with a kohl liner, smudging some just below your lower lashes.
THEN, clean any fall out off your cheeks with a makeup wipe, or makeup remover on a cotton pad and do your foundation routine. Fill your brows, and add your mascara.
I used no blush, and a rather nude/shimmery lipgloss and called it good.
If you want to use blush, I suggest a soft pink. And I also recommend a deep RICH red lip, if you feel EXTRA super bold.
YAY~! Makeup~! I love blue and gold.
You are all fantastic and wonderful and lovely, and until next time~
Halloween is just a FEW HOURS away, and I am SO EXCITED! This is the one day a year I can go all out and not be judged on it. Ahhhh, my time to shine!
I’ve decided that I am re-vamping last years costume and going as “Lumpy Space Princess” again. The first thing I’m going to do is cover my brows so I can draw on newer lumpier brows, over draw my lips, contour with purple eyeshadow, The. Fucking. Works.
If any kid dressed up as Finn comes to my house for Candy he or she gets the whole damn bowl! XD
I went trick-or-treating for 20 years, I figure it’s time to share the love, and start giving candy back.
And of course I will be posting picks of my makeup.
I can’t wait! AHH!!
I hate being sick…. It’s the worst. :(
A couple of the products I used have been discontinued, but that’s okay. They are rather common colors anyway, so it’s not like you can’t find Dupes.
And this is one of the few times I voluntarily use Liquid liner, but I like the metallic finish it has.
So, lets start the Tutorial. :D
TOOLS and PRODUCTS:
-2 Flat Brushes
-3 Soft Blending Brushes
-Primer (as always)
-Light Brown Loose Shadow - (the one I used was Discontinued)
-Shimmery Sparkly Gold Shadow - (I think this one has been discontinued)
-Brick/rusty Red (a bit Orange) - “Chiefest of Calamities” by Shiro Cosmetics
-Dark Reddish Brown - “War of Five Armies” by Shiro Cosmetics
-a Color that matches your skin tone - “Blanc Type” by Mac Cosmetics
-Brown Kohl Pencil
-Brown Liquid or Cream Liner - “Extreme Coffee” Studio Liquid Liner by NYX
-Dark Brown Macara
Prime your eyes and do your foundation routine. I applied the primer first to let it set up on my lids as I did my Concealer and Foundation.
It’s Also a good Idea to apply an intense lip Moisturizer if you are planning on wearing lipstick.
If you’re wondering about the scars and my wonky nose, I was born with a Cleft Pallet/Lip. It doesn’t effect my speech, but it made my nose look odd. Oh well. :)
Using a fluffy brush, apply your light brown loose shadow all over your lid, and a little above your crease. This helps with blending and is just a nice base color.
Using a small blending brush, or a small fluffy crease brush, apply your rusty color all up in your crease, and a little under your lower lashes.
Using your brown kohl Pencil, line and TIGHT line your eye. Bring some down under your lower lashes, keeping it more on the outside corner. THen used your Smudger Brush to smudge it up a bit.
Using one of your flat brushes and a mixing medium (anything from water, to beer, to a REAL mixing medium you by from a cosmetic Company), mix your gold loose shadow into a paste. Then pat it all over your lid, up to your crease. Make sure to keep your eye closed until it dries.
I prefer to use water here, because once it dries, it just turns back into a powder.
Using a clean blending brush, blend the brick red out so there isn’t too much of a harsh line.
The red dotted line is where I focused mu blending most.
Using the same brush I applied the rust red with, I wiped it off and applied the dark brown very lightly to the outer corner of my eye, and blended some down under my lower lashes to further soften the kohl eyeliner.
Using ANOTHER clean blending brush, apply the eyeshadow that most closely matches your skin under your brow, and anywhere around your eye makeup that needs to be softened a bit.
Fill your brows, and apply your liquid liner, and Mascara.
For the Liquid liner, I avoided a wing, and just did a bold liner that is tapered at both ends.
I applied a soft plum pink lipgloss and NO blush, because that’s trending, and I like that… Because I don’t like blush.
Thank you to all my followers! I think you are all super fantastic! :D
